    Window handle locks

The most common window handle on modern double-glazed windows are key operated espag handles, notable for their flat metal strip design. When the key is turned to lock the window, metal studs that are placed on the inside of the handle catch into a plate that’s on the window frame. Likewise, when the window is unlocked, the metal studs are released allowing the window to be opened. Keyless non-locking window handles are also an option, featuring a user-friendly internal button that’s ideal for fire-escape windows where required.

Our window handle collection also includes pear drop handles, pendant handles, and monkey tail handles. Our window handles work in the same way as an espag handle for simple functioning but aren't key-operated. Their specification provides the same protection for your home from the outside and inside. They're compatible with both multi-point locks and shoot bolt systems.

Multi-point locking systems for your South East home

For superior aluminium or uPVC window security, all of our window styles are fitted with multi-point locks as standard. Most multi-point lock systems include 3 vertical slots and when closed shut, these bolt to 3 hooks on the window frame. This means unlike older window security locks that only bolt in one place, the window is secured at several points around the frame, maximizing its sturdiness. With their excellent security standards, multi-point locks can reduce your home insurance costs.

Shootbolt locks for double glazed window security

This double-glazed window lock element holds a vital mechanism in securing a window. When used, the shoot bolt extends inwards or outwards at the top and bottom of the window, bolting it to the outer frame. The adjustable mushroom cams enhance the anti-separation performance, securing the frames tightly together. Not only does this increase the security of a window design, but it also works as a protective seal from harsh weathers, eliminating any draughts from seeping into your home.

    Window frame beading

Window beading runs along the edges of the window, holding the glazing panes firmly in place. This provides protection from strong forces, meaning the glass stays tightly intact and is much less likely to smash.

Windows can either be internally or externally beaded. If its external, the beading will be visible on the outside of the window, whilst internal beading is hidden within the frame.

External beading is common on timber windows and heritage uPVC windows as it will retain the authentic wooden appearance found on older properties. Nowadays, most modern double or triple glazed windows are internally beaded for a sleeker exterior appearance.

    Window restrictors

Commonly used as an additional casement window lock feature, they can also be incorporated into tilt and turn and bay windows. Window restrictors are a child-friendly security element that constrains how far a window can open. Its subtly placed inside your home on the window frame. We also offer elegant cabin hooks, concealed restrictor arms, cable restrictors and sash jammers that are located on the window frame too. They work in the same method of restricting the window opening, allowing ventilation into your home when open.

Sash window security in Ipswich, Oxford, Essex and Suffolk

With a unique vertical opening, our range of sash windows have their own high-performance range of sash window security features.

    • Sash window locks/fasteners – these are fixed to the middle of a vertical sliding sash window. When locked, it prevents the window from being opened from the interior or exterior.
    • Sash window stops – used for both home security and ventilation, they’re located on the left and right of a sash frame and stop the window from being completely opened. For homeowners with young children especially, this is an important security feature to incorporate into the sash window design.
    • Meeting rails – This is where the top rail of the bottom window and the bottom rail of the top window meets. Their precise configuration ensures that they sit tightly together, stopping any movement when closed, ensuring unwanted intruders can’t pick or force their way through the sash window.
